The "Cozy Cloth"

This is one of my new inventions: a Cozy Cloth.  It's a multipurpose item: tea cozy, hot dish coaster/holder.  This one is just right for covering my tea pot and keeping it warm all morning while I'm doing school with my boys.  It's also just right for an 8x8 casserole dish so that I can take a hot dish to potluck without using potholders that shift and get dropped en route.  And it can also work as a coaster for hot dishes that you'd want to sit right on the table.  I simply chose two printed cotton fabrics for each side (it's reversible too!) and then layered white cotton - 6-8 layers - in between.  I stitched them all together, made buttonholes in the corners so that the cloth can be buttoned together or tied with bakers twine.  I left the edges raw so that they would have that soft frayed
look : )
I sent a matching one to my sister so she can try it out and see what she thinks of it.  I hope it's as useful to her as it has been for me!

how clever! I've been pondering making a teapot cozy AND a casserole carrier. Maybe this is my answer, instead.
