Vegetables
How often do you eat fresh vegetables in a day? I decided that I wanted my boys to eat more vegetables. It's easy really. Provide no other snacks. The vegetables can stay out on the table between meals and whenever someone feels like a snack (very often in this house) there they are - fresh vegetables ; ) I've been refilling this veggie tray for a couple weeks: cucumbers, carrots, green pepper, cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, celery, radishes, broccoli, etc...the tray needs refilling every other day or two.

That is so smart Eva. So many little boys grow up to be young men who only want to eat nachos etc. (We've seen that and worse)
ReplyDeleteMy mom was good with veggies too, she would make sure every day I had a green. She would bring nice crisp lettuce for me to snack on and many times had carrot sticks in ice water in the fridge for easy snacking. Delicious!
What a great mommy you are!
yes, it's amazing what kids will eat when there are no other options IF they are really hungry :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think I need to try that here at our house for Mark and I! :)
ReplyDeleteEva Girl,
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea.. I have no little ones running around the house..but Me and Hubby could benefit from more vegetables. Will try this. Thanks for sharing.
Marvelous idea. When my boy was little, I did a similar thing. Now he is big... but the veggie thing did not stick. He decided he wanted to have an opinion or something. He just likes green beans. At least it is something.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I grew up in a house where the average snack was cookies, or maybe some potato chips. As a result, I still crave those things today, even though I try very hard not to eat a lot of them. I think that good habits like this are so much easier to maintain during a lifetime if they are learned young.
