Busy Time of Year

This is the beginning of my busiest time of year.  The garden is ready for harvesting: canning and freezing, and processing everything that comes out of the garden is top priority for th next month.  There's all the regular housework to do, plus all the fun Summer activities to do with friends and family....It's my favorite part about Summer : )

Sewing Class at the Root Cellar
Errands in Town
Feed and Water Chickens
Trim grass around Garden Beds
Pick:  Green Beans
         Cucumbers
         Bugs - feed to chickens
         Weeds - chickens
Snap Beans - freeze
Make Summer Squash Casserole for Dinner
        with Green Beans and Biscuits
Fold Laundry
Ironing
Mending

I stayed up late last night to do a couple alterations on some of my dresses.  My favorite wrap dress, a hooverette style house dress - perfect for doing housework.  It needed a new collar - luckily I had some more of the blue fabric left over to make one : )  I think I like the new shape even better!

Hey! I see that sewing class has an affiliation with the Church of the Brethren. Those are my people! What a small world....

Yes, we're all from the Church of the Brethren. My good friend, Sarah, started the project. She called it the Dorcas Project. A group of us girls all go to volunteer. It's working with the children and teaching them how to use a sewing machine. We've made drawstring bags, quilts for babies, and this fall we'll be making skirts and P.J. pants.
